Spotlight: Plakias
Plakias is a lovely town. Not the prettiest I’ve seen, not the biggest or the smallest, it is just right for me. It is growing, or perhaps I should say ‘modernising’, but not too fast, and still retains a simplicity I like. It is a good place to relax for a couple of weeks – or to use as a base to explore the surrounding countryside and beaches, if you like a more active holiday.  Bali is one of the most beautiful tourist destinations of Crete. It is located 31klm. Northeast of Rethimno. It is built in one of the most beautiful regions of the prefecture, at the place of ancient Axos. In this place the blue of the sky and the light blue of the sea are linked in a beautiful combination. The marvelous sandy beaches around the settlement are offered for swimming, whereas for food a lot of taverns exist.
