Gramvoussa, or more exactly Tigani to Balos which is the tip of the westernmost peninsula of Crete, was long a secret spot, only accessible by private boat or a long walk. Magical turquoise waters, lagoons, beaches of pure white sand.
It is accessible by boat (daily boat trips) or car, but we suggest a Jeep as the dirt road leading to the beach is quite rough at points. |

Balos-Gramvoussa reviews
Wonderful placePosted by Spiros Spiropoulos on October 2, 2007Balos / Gramvousa is a wonderful place, surely worth a visit. If you can, use the road instead of going there by ship. It is a tough path driving (you are better off with a small Jeep) and you will need to walk down the hill (and upwards after that) for about 20 minutes, bit you will be rewarded with a view you are unlike to find anywhere else on the island.
Falasarna, which is not far from there is also a very nice place worth visiting (cleanest beach I have seen so far on Crete). |
